Krider signs with DNN Motorsports for 2016
Napa’s Rob Krider won’t be running under the usual Krider Racing banner during the 2016 season.
He has signed a one-year contract to drive for Double Nickel Nine Motorsports, commonly referred to as DNN Motorsports, out of Del Rey, Calif.
Krider will race in the Honda Challenge series, a spec class for modified Honda and Acura vehicles doing battle on road courses across the country under the National Auto Sport Association sanctioning body.
The deal came through at the beginning of the year and suddenly has Krider moving teams and changing the type of car he drives for the 2016 road racing season.
Last year, he drove the Krider Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and was featured on numerous episodes of the television show “Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car,” winning the first event of the year at Thunderhill Raceway and being invited to the finale in Las Vegas. Last year he was also seen racing on an episode of the BBC show “Mud, Sweat & Gears.”
This season, he will do less television work and concentrate on racing front wheel drive Acura Integras for DNN Motorsports. DNN signed Krider to be the team’s chief technical director and to drive all season in the Honda Challenge series, which culminates in a National Championship title shot in October. His teammate and co-driver at DNN Motorsports will be Keith Kramer.
“I’m very excited about this year,” said Krider. “Working with the guys at DNN has opened some doors and obviously it is a collaborative process between the two entities, Krider Racing and DNN Motorsports. We certainly do things a certain way while they have a pretty substantial infrastructure already have in place, so it will be interesting to combine the two.”
DNN Motorsports works with some of the leading companies in the aftermarket automotive industry like AEM where Krider will have access to working with their engineers to ensure the performance of the team’s Acura Integra engine is at peak levels.
