11 Car Repairs You Shouldn’t Be Paying A Mechanic For
10. Replacing Your Battery
On older vehicles this practice is quite easy to do. All that’s needed is a the correct size sockets, a socket wrench, and a wire cleaning brush. However, newer vehicles might need to be seen by a dealer to reset the charging system to keep the new battery from being overcharged. I hate to say it but if you have a European or Hybrid vehicle its better than you leave this to a mechanic. Changing the battery is easy but it doesn’t always end there. On older or non-hybrid vehicles just remove the battery and take it to an auto parts store to have it tested. If the battery is deemed bad then replace it. Do your homework on this self fix before you jump into it. Batteries are not cheap and educating yourself will save you time and money.
