3. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88
Chevrolet produced the L-88 Corvette to be a racing legend aim at track racers. The Detroit based automaker replaced the stock Vette motor with the horsepower producing L-88 engine. Chevy listed the power upgrade over the stock Corvette to be very minimal in order to keep the cars out of the public’s hands. This turned out to be a farce when horsepower ratings came in at over 550 horsepower. Chevrolet knew how much the car made and thought it would be too much for city streets and highways. Only 20 of the 1967 L-88 Corvettes were produced and many of them sit in museums or in the hands of private collectors.
