10 Rare American Muscle Cars You’ll Probably Never See On The Streets
1. 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 R-Code
The Ford Fairlane entered into production in 1955 where it stayed mainly the same until 1962 when it was repurposed to Ford’s answer to the growing muscle car movement. In 1967 Ford had several Fairlane packages available but none of them could match the performance of the 500 R-Code. The regular 500 was the Fairlane’s upgraded performance edition but the 500 R-Code took things to a different level. Dual quad carburetors were attached the 427 inch motor and 425 horsepower was achieved with ease. This R-Code became the basis for future Mustangs and Torino models. Ford only equipped 57 Fairlanes with the R-Code package. Out of those 57 less than 25 are believed to be in existence today.
