No matter the reason why a vehicle is purchased customers trust in designers and manufacturers to supply them with a safe vehicle that will protect them in case of an accident. Unfortunately that’s not always the case and with 10 million vehicle accidents happening each year around the world the body count is piling up. Out of those 10 million accidents 1.5 million people have lost their lives. The accident to death ratio does fluctuate from year to year and automakers seem to be doing little about it. Vehicles are sold with less than standard crash ratings or with faulty equipment. This ultimately leads to accidents and loss of life.
The blame can’t just be placed on the automakers as some of the accidents today are caused by inexperienced or irresponsible drivers. Combine faulty equipment with a young driver and you get yourself one dangerous situation. Most of the vehicles driven by these young drivers are economy cars that are built to save the manufacturer and the customer money. Doesn’t sound like the best combination does it?
There are 10 vehicles that are considered to be the deadliest on the roadways of the United States. These findings are based on the number of accidents sold versus the number of people that died in those accidents. If you drive one of the vehicles on this list it might be time to think of changing as soon as you can before it’s too late.
10. Dodge Nitro
This box on wheels always looked like it would be pretty safe but the 2 wheel drive Dodge Nitro has earned itself a place on our list. 51 people out of 1 million crashes involving a Nitro lost their lives. There isn’t anything really wrong with the Nitro and it did rank well in crash ratings. Many organizations claim that the less than adequate size of the driver’s area is what leads to the most deaths and injuries.

CONCORD, N.C. — It’s official: one of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s favorite cars will make its return this weekend.
“Amelia” is back.
In 2015, Amelia earned three wins — a Duel at Daytona International Speedway, the May race at Talladega Superspeedway and the July race at Daytona – in addition to a third-place finish in the Daytona 500 and a second-place result in the second Talladega race.
Earnhardt’s average finish of 1.75 while driving Amelia in the four superspeedway points races last season led all competitors.
So it was no surprise that the chassis would make its return this season for the Daytona 500 this season. It looked like another successful run was in the works, but as Earnhardt looked to jump back into the top five with 30 laps remaining, the No. 88 Chevy SS was caught up in an incident that sent him to a 36th-place finish.
The test mule was heavily wrapped in cladding so the finer details weren’t visible but from what we hear, the new generation of the Wrangler will make extensive use of aluminium to shave off weight and improve on fuel efficiency. Of course, the platform will remain to be ladder-on-frame. If one looks at the picture carefully, one can notice that the windscreen is now more slanted, in order to improve aerodynamics and make the Wrangler look less slab-sided. The front fenders also sit lower and the front section itself looks like it is longer than the current model.
(2018 Jeep Wrangler)
Fiat Chrysler Auto, Jeep’s parent company, had said earlier in the year that there are plans to introduce diesel and hybrid models for the new generation Jeep Wrangler. The engine that currently does duty on the Dodge Ram, a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel that churns out 240bhp, might be one of the engines that Jeep may use. There is no intelligence on the hybrid diesel that might be used on the Wrangler. Coming to transmission, currently, the Wrangler uses a 5-speed unit. But Jeep will look to fit the Chrysler sourced 8-speed ZF automatic unit.

Lux models boast a piano black fascia, bright finish exterior detailing, and a Comfort suspension.
Aston Martin has already detailed the V12 Vantage S, which now features an optional seven-speed manual transmission. The row-your-own version costs $202,820, a heftier price than the $191,620 price tag when equipped with the Sportshift automated manual transmission. ]]>Rossi managed to make a big comeback to the second position and scoring 20 important points after troubled practice and qualifying sessions and being pushed to the seventh spot at the opening lap. Nevertheless, Lorenzo had gone far ahead and dominated the race with a significant lead for the remainder of the race. Marc Marquez had a poor start right from the beginning, but managed get aggressive in the following laps and battled for the second spot with Rossi closing in on Ducati rider Dovizioso.
However, both Dovizioso and Marquez fell almost in synchronized fashion at the Chemin aux Boeufs chicane. Marquez did manage to get going again and eventually completed the race in 13th place, salvaging a few points. That said, the Spaniard ended up losing his title lead to Lorenzo with the latter scoring more points.

For one, there’s a newcomer to the series who is a force to be reckoned with and his name is Toni Elias. Secondly, his Yoshimura Suzuki team seems to have a bit of swagger after winning three of the first four races and holding down first and second in the championship with Roger Hayden leading Elias by a single point heading into NJMP. The third thing we’ve learned is that Hayes’ teammate Cameron Beaubier seems to be back, the defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion winning race two at Road Atlanta to end what was a miserable run of bad luck to open his 2016 campaign. Even though he got that first win of the season, the road back to the top of the championship will take a bit longer as he’s currently 38 points behind Hayden and seventh in the title chase entering round three.
And then we come to Hayes – third in the title chase and 24 points behind Hayden after finishing third twice at COTA and second once at Road Atlanta. The other race at Road Atlanta was one that Hayes is trying to forget. While racing for the lead with Beaubier, Hayes made a mistake and ran into the back of his teammate, causing both to crash out of the race and handing first and second to Yoshimura Suzuki teammates Elias and Hayden. So Hayes is winless and happy to be heading to a place where his fortunes have been plentiful.
]]>Along with the rising temperatures here on the East Coast comes the start of car event season. That means track days, autocrosses, car races, and of course, car shows.
But some of the best car shows aren’t the ones where big automakers show off their latest concept car. Smaller car shows hosted by local car enthusiasts across the nation are popular this time of year and are a great way to check out all kinds of beautiful, rare cars.
Caffeine and Carburetors, which is hosted in New Canaan Connecticut on a monthly basis from Spring to Fall, is one of those car shows.
In fact, it is one of the most impressive car shows in the whole Northeast thanks to the variety of cars that show up, the amount of cars that show up, the openness of it all, and the pure automotive passion that flows through its attendees.
Last Sunday brought the first Caffeine and Carburetors of the season. New Canaanite reports that an estimated 5,000 people and at least 1,000 cars showed up.
That’s crazy. But what’s almost crazier, is the all the different kinds of cars that showed up.

From the get-go, Hennessey wants it to be known this has nothing to do with the company’s performance shop. The Hennessey development center and workshop adjacent to the race track are not offered for sale, and are completely independent from Lonestar Motorsports park.
“This is purely a smart real-estate move,” John Hennessey, founder and head-honcho at Hennessey Performance, said. “If it sells for what we ask, great. If no one buys it, we might end up just keeping it.”
The 55-acre facility features an IHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile dragstrip, with enclosed and air-conditioned concession stands, spectator grand stands with seating for 800, staging lanes, a control tower, lights, timing equipment, among other things. An additional 70 acres are available for “additional cost,” and the ad claims the property could be expanded into a road course.
